ABOUT CHEF EMILY RIVER

Hi there, I’m Emily River, a 42-year-old home cook from New York with a deep love for soulful, no-fuss meals. I grew up in Astoria, Queens, where the smell of garlic in olive oil was as familiar as the rumble of the 7 train. My Italian-American roots taught me early on that food brings people together, and there’s always room for one more at the table.

Some of my fondest memories are of helping my nonna stir the Sunday sauce, learning to cook by feel and heart rather than recipe. Over the years, I’ve worked behind deli counters, in bakeries, and at catering events, but it was hosting supper clubs in my tiny apartment that made me fall in love with home cooking all over again.

River Emily

Now living in Brooklyn with my partner and our curious cat, Basil, I teach local cooking classes, explore seasonal markets, and write a blog full of recipes and stories. My style is rustic, comforting, and all about making good food with love. Mistakes happen—I’ve burned dinners and failed at sourdough—but that’s part of the joy.

Whether you’re spicing up a weeknight meal or cooking for friends, I’m here to share what I’ve learned and cheer you on. Let’s make something delicious together.
